Speaking immediately after the Annual General Meeting, the incoming President, Mr Varigonda said “the Council of Indian Australians Inc (CIA) will continue with the excellent work undertaken by the previous committee. The CIA will be transparent and inclusive of different views of the community in all aspects of its endeavours including upcoming programs in a non-partisan way with integrity to gain confidence of the community it serves”.

The CIA will work with other Indian organization to coordinate affecting the Indian community in NSW such as social, cultural, education, health and issues Being a community based organization, CIA’s new executive committee members are very keen to listen to our community needs.

We strongly urge all Indians in NSW to become members of CIA and actively participate in all CIA sponsored activities. This will not only benefit the Community, but will also be your personal contribution to the society in assisting our fellow Indians – in particular new Indians settling in NSW.

To cater for the growing Indian community in Australia, it is in our benefit to have a united community with one collective voice that can be recognised by all tiers of Governments – Local, State and Federal and share our cultural activities within multicultural society in Australia.

In addition to celebrating our national events (Australia Day / Indian Republic Day and the Indian Independence Day), we’ll be covering main issues affecting new migrants, Youth and Domestic Violence” said Mr Varigonda.
